How to Use Your Mounjaro® KwikPen®
A gentle 6-step routine. Follow these steps once every 7 days at any time of day, with or without food.

Inspect the KwikPen® & Liquid
Wash your hands. Check the pen label to confirm your prescribed dose. The medicine solution should be completely clear and colorless to slightly yellow. Let the pen sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before use.
Do not use if the liquid is cloudy, frozen, or has visible particles.

Attach a Fresh BD Micro-Fine™ Needle
Pull off the pen cap. Peel the paper safety seal off the needle. Push the needle straight onto the pen and screw it on firmly until tight. Pull off the outer needle shield (save this) and the inner needle shield.
Always use a brand-new sterile needle for every single weekly dose.

Prime the Pen (Air Bubble Check)
Turn the dose knob clockwise until you see the small droplet symbol. Point the needle upwards, gently tap the cartridge barrel so air rises, and push the dose knob all the way in until you see medicine appear at the needle tip.
Priming confirms proper medicine flow through the needle before injection.

Dial Dose "1" & Select Injection Site
Turn the dose knob until the number "1" appears in the dose window. Choose an injection site: your lower abdomen (at least 2 inches away from your belly button), the front of your upper thighs, or outer upper arm.
Rotate your injection site each week to keep your skin healthy.

Inject & Hold for 5 Seconds
Insert the needle straight into your clean skin at a 90-degree angle. Push the dose knob all the way down until the "0" reappears in the window. Keep the needle in place and slowly count to 5 before withdrawing.
Holding for 5 seconds ensures full delivery of the 0.5 mL liquid.

Remove Needle & Dispose in Sharps Bin
Carefully replace the outer needle shield, unscrew the needle counter-clockwise, and safely drop it directly into your provided yellow medical sharps bin. Place the pen cap back on and return the KwikPen to the fridge.
Never throw unshielded needles into domestic household bins.

Inject into the fatty tissue beneath the skin. Rotate your injection site weekly to prevent tissue irritation.

Most common and convenient site. Anywhere around the belly, at least 5 cm (2 inches) away from the navel.

Mounjaro® Treatment & Dosing FAQs
All patients begin on the 2.5 mg initiation dose for 4 consecutive weeks. This allows your gastrointestinal system to adjust to tirzepatide. At week 4, our clinical prescriber will review your progress, tolerance, and satiety. If appropriate, you will titrate to 5 mg for month 2. Further titration to 7.5 mg or 10 mg is determined on an individualized clinical basis.
